How much water do you need?

The amount of water a person needs depends on the health of the person, the environment, clothing and exercise intensity and duration. If you are someone who sweats a lot, then you may need to drink more water to account for that loss. If you're unsure about how much water you should drink, consult your doctor. They can help you better understand what your body needs.

According to the American Council on Exercise, you should drink 17 to 20 ounces of fluid 2 to 3 hours before exercise and another 8 ounces 20 to 30 minutes before your workout. Then, during the workout, 7 to 10 ounces every 10 to 20 minutes. And lastly, drink 8 ounces 30 minutes after the workout.
